Geothermal Home by Lauer Featured in NBC "Going Green" Segment January 2007 A home built by Lauer Construction on the Chesapeake Bay was the lead story of the NBC 4 Washington D.C. news Going Green segment on the evening news, January 16, 2007. The Going Green segment was syndicated by other stations and shown throughout the world. John Lauer (above right) briefed news anchor, Wendy Rieger, on the virtues of geothermal and construction considerations before Ms. Rieger interviewed the homeowners. The 4,800 square foot home uses the earth's warmth to heat the home in the winter, and the earth's 55 degree temperatures to cool the home in the summer. Lauer Construction crews worked with Ground Loop, Inc. to ensure the geothermal installation was seamlessly integrated into the overall design and construction of the home. Other environmentally friendly/green building features of the home include cork flooring in the kitchen, reduced water usage appliances, and energy efficient windows.
